GROC Genesee Regional Off-Road Cyclists

Tryon Park is on one of the two Monroe County Parks that have been opened to a 18 month shared-se trail Pilot Program. There are 21 Parks in Monroe's county with 12,000 acres and until May 2011 it was illegal to ride a bike on trails. GROC and many supporters worked with County Parks Department and the Legislators during the Ellison Park master Plan update to demonstrate how shared-use trails can be integrated into the county parks system.

Tryon is a a great park that offers a wide variety of riding but is predominately expert trail system. It is not very y well suited for beginner riders. West bay Park is better geared for beginners and intermediate riders.

The only legal Mountain biking available in Rochester NY, Penfield, and Monroe County for true mountain bike enthusiast.  The layout is like a ski resort, plato at the top of a large set of fields and downhill on all sides. The trails have been cut into the downhill winding back and forth with some great obstacles and drops. The best thing about the layout is that it is designed for all skill levels, if you want maximum downhill fun and minimum uphill or high level of difficulty with maximum leg burn you will find it all

There's no better place to slip away to than the highest point in Ontario County, Gannett Hill Park, in the scenic Bristol Hills. At an elevation of 2,256 feet above sea level, you'll have expansive views to the East; view portions of Ontario County and the hills behind Seneca and Cayuga Lakes.

A panorama, changing with every season is the Northeast. From "Look Out" you'll view the Bristol Hills.

This 14,350 acre Letchworth State Park, the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenic areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the deep gorge over three major waterfalls. The shale and sandstone cliffs rise as high as 600 feet in places.

Tons of single track and dirt roads.Good palce for all levels of riders, although you better like roots rocks and some climbing. Harriet Hollister Spencer Recreation Area provides picnic tables, hiking, cross-country skiing and biking trails. Deer hunting is permitted in season. Small game hunting is not permitted at any time.There is only one pavilion available at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area.

From North and West of Rochester take 390 to
Avon exit routes 5 & 20. Take 5&20 East to 15A
South. Take 15A south to Hemlock to 20A East.
Take 20A east the turn right on County road 37
just before you hit the village of Honeoye.
Continue for about another five miles on county
road 37. At fork in road bear left onto dirt road.
Parking for park just ahead on left.

These trails areThe Whiting Road Nature Preserve consists of approximately 240 acres of land purchased by the Town of Webster under the open space referendum. Open To Shared use: Hiking Trails, Mountain Biking Trails, Snow Shoeing, Cross Country skiing.

WNYMBA has been working hard for years to bring great single track to Western NY.

That's what it is all about. Miles and miles of narrow, dry, technical, all-natural singletrack. A beautiful 12-inch wide strip of dirt, rocks, logs and roots threading through the forests, fields, and hills of Western New York. But unlike a new front fork or a replacement derailleur, you can't just run down to the your local bike shop and pick up a new stretch of singletrack. No, there's only one path to singletrack. That is for us to organize and work with land managers to open trails to bicycles, (legally!) build new trails, and get together to celebrate and enjoy the results we achieve.
